About Me

Learn a bit about me personally, a lot about me professionally, and some ways I’ve helped others and can help you.

My Background

Prior to 2012, I had a successful career managing a team of technical writers and trainers as an AVP at Wells Fargo. I then left the corporate world to travel for my husband’s job while raising our two boys.

Now that our sons are older, I’ve begun re-entering the workforce with a few different part-time roles that include teaching elementary-aged children from Colorado to China.

Martial Arts Volunteer Work

However, my passion for writing procedural documentation and creating training material resurfaced when I began volunteering for my local Taekwondo school.

After receiving my first-degree Taekwondo black belt in 2019, I began volunteering at the school.

Initially, it was to help improve their written communication with students. What started with coaching the staff on what to say and how to say it, soon grew into content management for their website and app.

Every opportunity is an option to grow

Then, the school decided to change their customer relationship management (CRM) system, and I led the transition, staff training, communication, tech support and documentation for the effort. As the most technically inclined person on staff, who could easily learn and teach the new software, I was the best person for the role.

When the pandemic forced the school to online classes, I led that transition as well. I helped the school move to virtual classes and managed the staff training, communication, tech support and documentation:

Documentation which suddenly included the need to create and post videos of training curriculum and activities to help keep students engaged.

Expanding into a business

I realized that other professionals such as small business owners and independent contractors could benefit from my “Jill-of-all-trades” skills as well and started to offer my services to others as both contract work and à la carte tasks.
